摘要

Background

Occupational safety for forensic pathologists is regulated at both European and national levels. During pregnancy and breastfeeding special protection is granted.

Method

This work is based on a selective literature search with a focus on maternity protection.

Results

Pregnant and breastfeeding women are protected in particular by the German Maternity Protection Act (MuSchG). It regulates working hours, periods of protection and protection against dismissal.

Discussion

A prerequisite for maternity protection regulations is a correct recording of working times. Employers should take gender-specific differences into account. Occupational physicians can provide support.
