A review on the strengthening methods to improve mechanical properties of clinched joints
摘要
Automotive lightweight is a system engineering approach to save energy, reduce emissions, and improve vehicle performance. This approach includes lightweight in structural design, materials, and manufacturing processes. The clinching technique, known for its low energy consumption, high strength, and simplicity, is a viable method for lightweight joining. Compared to conventional methods, this technique effectively addresses challenges associated with joining dissimilar metals and non-metallic materials, thereby promoting the widespread use of lightweight materials in automotive bodies. This paper presents the latest methods for improving clinching performance from various perspectives, including joining tools, process parameters, auxiliary materials, specific energy fields, and structural design. The integrated use of these methods can generate innovative solutions for the automotive manufacturing industry, promoting the efficient design and production of automotive structural components.
