Overview of research on machining mechanism of aluminum-based silicon carbide composites (SiCp/Al)

摘要

SiCp/Al composites have excellent properties that traditional metals cannot match and have broad application prospects in the automotive industry, precision instruments, and other fields. However, due to the significant differences in physical properties between SiC particles and aluminum matrix, as well as the non-uniform distribution of particles in the aluminum matrix, SiCp/Al composites have strong difficult-to-process properties, which restricts the engineering application of SiCp/Al composites. This paper mainly reviews the research status of SiCp/Al composites in chip morphology and its formation mechanism, machining surface quality, cutting force, cutting temperature, and auxiliary machining and looks forward to its future research direction, which is of positive significance to promote the further development of this material.
