Review of dwell-time algorithms for magnetorheological finishing

The dwell-time algorithm is one of the critical technologies in magnetorheological finishing, and its solution accuracy largely determines the final processing quality. In this study, the dwell time-solving models were divided into two types according to the mathematical realization form: the convolution model and the linear equation model. Representative algorithms were selected from these two categories, and their characteristics were analyzed with regard to the motivation, principle, and inner connection. Additionally, considering the current research progress of dwell-time algorithms, the future development direction of dwell-time algorithms incorporating multi-state performance was discussed.
