<p>Medial open-wedge high tibial osteotomy (HTO) is a&#xa0;well-established procedure for treating varus osteoarthritis of the knee. Its success depends on precise preoperative planning, consideration of patient-specific factors and accurate analysis of limb alignment. The analysis and understanding of the deformity through assessment of the medial proximal tibial angle (MPTA), lateral distal femoral angle (LDFA), and joint line convergence angle (JLCA) are essential for selecting the appropriate correction strategy. In complex deformities, a&#xa0;double-level osteotomy can be required to avoid pathological joint line obliquity.</p>

Medial open-wedge high tibial osteotomy (HTO) is a well-established procedure for treating varus osteoarthritis of the knee. Its success depends on precise preoperative planning, consideration of patient-specific factors and accurate analysis of limb alignment. The analysis and understanding of the deformity through assessment of the medial proximal tibial angle (MPTA), lateral distal femoral angle (LDFA), and joint line convergence angle (JLCA) are essential for selecting the appropriate correction strategy. In complex deformities, a double-level osteotomy can be required to avoid pathological joint line obliquity.
