<p>Symptomatic re-tearing after rotator cuff sutures is one of the most frequent complications in shoulder surgery. In addition to a&#xa0;detailed failure analysis, a&#xa0;thorough consideration of the indications for revision suturing is necessary. Revision suture reconstruction is a&#xa0;technically demanding procedure, as the tendon tissue is usually weakened by the previous surgery and the tendon is further retracted and the muscle further atrophied. This article describes the reasons for failure of a&#xa0;primary reconstruction and the prerequisites and technical steps for carrying out a&#xa0;successful revision suture of the rotator cuff.</p>

In addition to a detailed failure analysis, a thorough consideration of the indications for revision suturing is necessary. Revision suture reconstruction is a technically demanding procedure, as the tendon tissue is usually weakened by the previous surgery and the tendon is further retracted and the muscle further atrophied. This article describes the reasons for failure of a primary reconstruction and the prerequisites and technical steps for carrying out a successful revision suture of the rotator cuff.
