Glenohumeral instability, often caused by trauma, leads to recurrent shoulder dislocations and can result in significant structural damage to the labrum, capsule-ligament complex and humeral head. Imaging techniques such as conventional radiography, computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) are essential for the identification and quantification these injuries. Conventional radiography is particularly useful in acute dislocations, while CT enables a precise visualization of bony defects. The MRI provides high accuracy in detecting soft tissue injuries, with MR arthrography providing even greater diagnostic precision. The Pico method for measuring glenoid defects and the glenoid track concept for assessing Hill-Sachs lesions are proven approaches for determining the extent of bone loss and the risk of recurrent instability. These imaging techniques are crucial for planning an evidence-based treatment tailored to the specific needs of individual patients.
