Osteotomie und Kniebandinstabilität

The importance of bony alignment in ligament surgery of the knee joint has long been underestimated. Against this background, this article discusses in particular the importance of coronal and sagittal alignment in the treatment of ligamentous instability and the impact on the surgical outcome. Special attention is paid to the tibial slope, as its adjustment directly affects the in situ forces of the cruciate ligaments. Various osteotomy techniques for the coronal and sagittal planes as well as combined procedures are discussed; however, the decision for specific osteotomy techniques should be based on a differentiated case by case evaluation, taking both the degree of malalignment and the degree of instability into account.
