摘要

Long-term therapies play a key role in treatment of early breast cancer. Side effects often develop gradually or even with delayed onset, are perceived differently by patients and healthcare professionals, and can put treatment adherence ad risk due to their impact on quality of life. Clinically relevant complications may affect the cardiovascular system, hormonal balance, neurological and cognitive function, or the musculoskeletal system and can also be immune-mediated. Additionally, the risk of secondary neoplasms is increased. Effective side effect management includes structured diagnostics and monitoring, individualized therapy adjustments, and supportive measures within an interdisciplinary approach. Involving patients and their caregivers is crucial for maintaining adherence. Digital tools and apps promote patient empowerment and contribute to continuous symptom documentation and communication with the medical team. Early, structured, and patient-centered strategies are essential to ensure both long-term treatment success and quality of life.
