摘要

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is often associated with obesity. This increases the risk of associated hormonal disorders, cardiometabolic complications, and insulin resistance. Therefore, women with PCOS and obesity are recommended to lose at least 5% of their bodyweight. Even this modest weight loss improves clinical symptoms such as menstrual disorders, reduces testosterone levels, and improves reproductive function and insulin resistance. In this context, guidelines recommend a multimodal basic therapy consisting of dietary, exercise, and behavioural modifications. This nonpharmacological combination therapy achieves long-term improvements in all PCOS-related disorders and quality of life, provided patients are highly motivated and compliant. It is important to coordinate this lifestyle intervention with other therapeutic interventions and adapt it to the patient’s individual needs.
