<p>Centers for personalized medicine (ZPM) form the infrastructural basis for a&#xa0;quality-assured, evidence-generating, novel form of healthcare based on comprehensive molecular diagnostics. They are being established nationwide in a&#xa0;standardized certification process by the German Cancer Society, similar to the well-known organ centers. A&#xa0;central element of implementation are molecular tumor boards (MTBs), in which interdisciplinary, individualized therapy decisions are made on the basis of comprehensive molecular pathological diagnostics. To enable the reuse of data, ZPMs are regularly involved in Germany-wide collaborative research networks such as the German Network for Personalized Medicine (DNPM), the National Network for Genomic Medicine (nNGM), and the Model Project for Genomic Medicine (MVH). Highly sophisticated digital platforms such as dnpm:DIP are operated for IT and data protection, enabling joint projects such as PM<sup>4</sup>Onco, which guarantee structured data use and the generation of new research questions from this innovative part of routine care. Cross-sector involvement of nonuniversity partners and active patient participation are considered key success factors for the sustainable implementation of personalized medicine in Germany.</p>
