Vulvakarzinom in der Schwangerschaft

The incidence of vulvar cancer in pregnancy is extremely low. So far, only a few cases have been reported in the literature and the impact of the diagnosis during pregnancy is still not well understood.

The aim of this study was to provide an overview of previous recommendations on diagnosis and treatment of vulvar cancer during pregnancy based on the existing literature.

This review article is based on a selective literature search in the PubMed database using the following search terms: “vulvar carcinoma in pregnancy,” “cancer in pregnancy,” “gynecologic cancer in pregnancy,” “vulvar cancer.”

The recommendations for diagnosis and treatment are based on the existing guidelines. Biopsy for a suspicious vulvar lesion in pregnancy is considered safe and should be performed without delay. Depending on gestational age and tumor stage, oncological and perinatal management must be discussed interdisciplinarily and determined individually.

Due to the small number of cases, there are currently no standardized recommendations for dealing with vulvar cancer in pregnancy and the respective procedure remains individual. Interdisciplinary and international exchange of case reports as well as consensus conferences can help to create a data-based guideline for diagnosis and treatment.
