The systems biological approach of gender-sensitive medicine taking other diversity factors (GSM+) into account, investigates biological gender differences in the interaction with sociocultural environmental factors. In times of transition, such as puberty, perimenopause and senility, the focus is often on functional disorders of organ function, which are symptomatic. In addition to temperature regulation disorders, cardiovascular symptoms such as palpitations or gastrointestinal disorders and mood swings are frequently reported. Learning the differential diagnosis of perimenopausal symptoms and manifest diseases is a focus of GSM+ teaching and will improve the care of women. The consideration of ethnicity and age are further important diversity factors that modify the course of diseases and must be systematically researched and taken into account on the way to gender-sensitive personalized medicine. It is methodologically challenging to answer the question of the percentage relationship between the biological and sociocultural environmental factors that determine the course of a disease; however, it is important to expand the toolbox with new therapeutic instruments. Up to now science has been funded on the assumption that it is sufficient to represent both sexes as randomly distributed in the data sets of studies and to analyze the data together. In the healthcare practice there is a disadvantage of the gender that is demonstrated by the minority in the unbalanced dataset; therefore, a separate analysis of study data according to gender is required as a standard for the GSM+.
