摘要

Pelvic organ prolapse is one of the most frequent diseases in women over 60 years old but also affects younger women after childbirth. Symptomatic courses need an individualized treatment with conservative and surgical measures. Surgical treatment of pelvic organ prolapse can be carried out via a vaginal or abdominal access with or without preservation of uterus. Younger women mostly benefit from an abdominal endoscopic procedure, whereas older female patients are frequently offered vaginal techniques which are less invasive and with shorter operation times. In the case of an inconspicuous uterus, vaginal as well as abdominal surgical methods can be used, without resulting in a worsening of the functional outcome. In this article the currently used methods for uterus preservation are presented and discussed.
