Das metastasierte Mammakarzinom – ein Überblick zur Entwicklung der Therapiestandards 2024

The diagnosis of metastasis of breast cancer is frightening news for the patient concerned; the term is associated with the threat to life posed by this disease. It is still true that metastasis cannot be cured but the use of modern substances has now made it possible to significantly prolong life. This brief outline presents the new substances and possibilities with which these therapeutic successes can be achieved. The necessity of molecular diagnostics and treatment with new targeted substances and antibody-drug conjugates are discussed on the basis of the study results. The treatment algorithms of the Working Group Gynecological Oncology (AGO Breast Committee, www.ago-online.de) reflect the complexity of treatment decisions in metastatic breast cancer.
