摘要
Home ventilation represents the cornerstone of treatment for ventilatory insufficiency in children.
ObjectiveOverview of the most important aspects of home ventilation in children and adolescents
Material and methodNarrative review incorporating the literature and practical experience.
ResultsDespite the sometimes low level of evidence, home ventilation is becoming increasingly more important in pediatrics. The evaluation of the indications for home ventilation is sometimes complex, while the establishment is technically relatively simple. The long-term care of pediatric patients with home ventilation requires not only proven expertise but also adequate personnel and equipment. Limitations to the use of home ventilation must be recognized.
ConclusionHome ventilation has a high and still increasing relevance in pediatric medicine. The growing patient population must be met with increasing expertise and improved care structures.
