<p>Proctological surgery is particularly well-suited for outpatient procedures due to the small surgical field, the limited range of procedures, the short operation duration and the low complication rates. Outpatient surgery is subject to procedural requirements, which are primarily determined by the healthcare policy framework and integrated into numerous legal regulations and ordinances. These include staffing and infrastructural requirements, hygiene standards and medical instrumental equipment.</p><p>Since 1&#xa0;January 2024, the implementation of the so-called hybrid diagnosis-related groups (DRG) model according to Section&#xa0;115f of the German Social Code (SGB&#xa0;V) as a&#xa0;reimbursement model has resulted in sector-neutral remuneration for numerous types of surgery, including proctological procedures, regardless of the provider. Due to this flat-rate reimbursement system, an increase in outpatient proctological surgery in Germany can be expected.</p>

Proctological surgery is particularly well-suited for outpatient procedures due to the small surgical field, the limited range of procedures, the short operation duration and the low complication rates. Outpatient surgery is subject to procedural requirements, which are primarily determined by the healthcare policy framework and integrated into numerous legal regulations and ordinances. These include staffing and infrastructural requirements, hygiene standards and medical instrumental equipment.

Since 1 January 2024, the implementation of the so-called hybrid diagnosis-related groups (DRG) model according to Section 115f of the German Social Code (SGB V) as a reimbursement model has resulted in sector-neutral remuneration for numerous types of surgery, including proctological procedures, regardless of the provider. Due to this flat-rate reimbursement system, an increase in outpatient proctological surgery in Germany can be expected.
