<p>Tinnitus is a&#xa0;common symptom with a&#xa0;global prevalence of 14.4%. Western medicine pursues a&#xa0;multimodal therapeutic approach in accordance with the actual guidelines. Causal treatment is not yet possible due to incomplete research into its pathophysiology. The often-chronic course of the condition and the limited effectiveness of therapies lead many patients to seek alternative healing methods. Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), with more than 2000 years of experience, offers a&#xa0;complementary treatment approach. Acupuncture and qigong play a&#xa0;particularly important role in the treatment of tinnitus. This article presents the treatment options in Western medicine and compares them with the holistic therapeutic approaches of TCM specifically aimed at tinnitus.</p>
