Neue Studie zur Behandlung von Trigeminusneuralgie

The authors describe the ACUTRIG study, a small randomised, controlled study on the acupuncture treatment of trigeminal neuralgia, conducted under the direction of the Charité University in Berlin. Several mandatory acupuncture points were used and, depending on which trigeminal branch was affected, these were supplemented with additional acupuncture points. The study, whilst acknowledging the purely therapeutic effect of acupuncture, also sheds light on the psychological and emotional burden of trigeminal neuralgia on patients and the effects acupuncture can achieve. The final results are not yet available and are expected in winter 2024.
