<p>This paper studies the asymptotic behavior of a suspension bridge model. We consider a thermoelastic dissipation combined with internal damping on the vertical displacement of the vibrating spring standing for the main cable. We prove exponential stability using the semigroup approach under a suitable relationship between the system coefficients (equal wave propagation). Otherwise, we prove polynomial stability with optimal rate.</p>
