The relation between the gonality and the Clifford index of a chain of cycles

For a chain of cycles \(\Gamma \) $\mathrm{\Gamma }$ , we prove that \({{\,\textrm{Cliff}\,}}(\Gamma )={{\,\textrm{gon}\,}}(\Gamma )-2\) $\text{Cliff}(\mathrm{\Gamma })=\text{gon}(\mathrm{\Gamma })-2$ .
